Me neither I don't like "Better" either. It's sounds like a cheap copy cat to "Please Hold On".
Ok so Jason sings the whole chorus part on Caroline. I don't understand this tho on one part of Caroline you Just Fine, Just Fine...Caroline. Is that Jason or is it Bobby Kimball??? They sound kind of similar to me so I don't know.
I haven't heard the alternative versions of these songs but I am thinking ofcourse that they sound better than the original.
Ofcourse Jason wouldn't have a problem with Bill singing that much in the album they have been in that with eachother for so it's all about respect. I just think that's what he decided. I think it's weird he wasn't into this album as much but he puts out a lot into it. That's awesome.!
I thought I also read before the album came out that Robert wasn't into XXX either. I heard he just wanted to work towards his solo work then on Chicago. So it prolly wasn't just Bill. I just really got that Jason wanted to put out the new more. I might not know what I am talking about here so if maybe you can clear it up. I was confused.
and not tired of the album yet?

Wooowwww Daly....you really don't like Better!! ;D It's not my favorite one, but...it's interesting that you call it a copycat of Please Hold On! It's interesting, the song that better reminds you a little!! by the way, I love Please Hold On very much!! I have read that Bobby Kimball does sing on "Caroline", but I think he's doing the background vocals. I really believe that Jason is the one that is singing out loud..."Just Fine Just Fine", that sounds to me like "You're mine " but it's really "Just fine", you're right, Daly. Many persons can acuse Jason of being screaming in some songs...and, for one part, they are right....But Jason is not doing anything that many other rockers haven't done. And....I really think Bobby kimball likes to sceam from time to time, and I don't read critics to him in that sense. Yes, the alternate songs sounds very good, and at least, I think the alternative version of Carline is better, because it has some nice arrangements, a cool piano introduction that sounds like "Will You Still love Me"...and then robert sining the alternate lyrics you hear in the chorus. This version drives you to the first chords of the song and the first verseof the song in a smoother way than the released version does. But, I too like The "Caroline" with Jason singing the chorus and then, suddenly the horns...You know, it's hard to explain for me. But I like the twoo versions of the song. Yes you're right, Jason puts a lot of his heart into this album!! I think he alwys puts his heart into everything he does, but with this album, he devotion has been really special, and absolute!! Well, it's a little confusing to me too. I think that Robert is always interested in new things with Chicago, but he has a special devotion for his solo projects because he makes the music he really wants with his own albums. We all know Robert is about jazz, smooth jazz, rock, funk...social lyrics...So, I think that he agreed in doing a new album with Chicago but at the same time, he didn't care about Jason and Bill taking the major part in the XXX projects. Well, at least, fortunately for many Robert fans, he really participated in XXX and one can notice it, with Caroline, Feel, Come To Me Do and 90 Degrees. He did a very good job and he can assure people's respect wit this album.and, at the same time, people will be satisfied with Robert's solo albums or remakes of solo songs by him. No...I am not tired of XXX yet!! I can feel tired to some point, you know, like saturated, by moments, but tree or four days later, I want to hear XXX again! It's really a good op/rock/ballad album!!

Yeah Better is not my cup of tea. I like Please Hold On too.
Yeah Bobby backgrounds on Caroline which is true but on this Chi forum they kept arguing on who was that screaming was it Jason... or was it Babby Kimball?. That's how I had to ask the question. I believe it's Jason as well sounds a lot like him and both Jason and Bobby are awesome screamers. Shows them the band can still rock out.! You need to scream/belt in rock and roll, if not without the lungs it's less interesting.
Thanks for the description of the songs! I can't wait to hear when I do.
Hmmm sounds like Robert couldn't make up his mind. I am glad Chicago doesn't make his kind of music in a way. I heard S&P it's good but not something I can get the hold of getting used to listening. I love him tho. Weather he likes it or not he will always be stuck with Chicago if not the band should just break up. I hope that it doesn't happen like that but it kind of doesn't make of difference then I don't know about that either.
I am like you about the album I am not tired of it either. I am trying not to listen to it much but I will go through a withdrawl if I don't. It's an album I cannot turn off.
