WELL I GOT THE ALBUM TODAY OR SHOULD I SAY YESTERDAY!!
Ok sorry for the caps!! Well the album is awesome. Jason has done a great job in this album vocally, and so has Robert. Bill is great but I have to get used to his parts. That sucks because I love Bill. I just think his voice is getting annoying to a certain extent. To be honest with you the last time I think Bill sounded great on an album was on 21, and maybe HIMH,TOO on The Heart of Chicago.
Other than that my favorite tracks off this album so far are;
Feel(w/horns)-the one without horns sounds empty. Caroline King Of Might Have Been 90 Degrees and Freezing Love Will Come Back
I have to listen to it more to prove an opinion.

Hey ladies, this is my first post here. I thought Iwould try to support this Jason Scheff forum as he is one of my favorite members in the band (besides Bill). My favorite song so far on XXX is KOMHB, 90 and freezing, and come to me do.
Although on a little side note that has nothing to do with this thread, I must definately say that I like Jason with short hair much better than the long, don't you agree?
I look forward to getting to know you all.

It doesn't matter to me about his length he's cute either way. Come To Me, Do- I have to say is a favorite of mine from XXX now. Robert was awesome. Another song I also like is Where Were You. I will admit I am a bit disappointed. I love the album but I think Jason should have sang a little more on it. All and all it's an awesome album. I have played it almost everyday since I got it almost 2 weeks ago.

I think that the album is really great, and it's just an excellent work. From Jason, I love "Long Lost Friend", "King", "Love will come back", and some of his parts in Caroline, specially the chorus. I like very much the song "Already gone" from Bill Champlin, and in some way, I like 'Loving chains". "Why can't we" is nice, but I need more time to get more into that song. And, from Robert,I learned to appreciate "Feel", and it was just a glimpse of the great album that was coming!! I like very much "90 degrees and freezing", that has also some Jason nice vocals, and it was written by both Jason and Robert, along with other songwriters.
God, I am so fascinated with Long lost Friend!! And King is very beautiful also.

Yes LLF Vero is an awesome song.
I also want to update my views on this album since that last time I wrote about it was 2 months ago. I am now liking Bill's songs on the album except for Better. Why Can't We is another song that I am week on for example I listen to it one day and the next I don't.
I looove that album but if only Jason sang a little more on it it could have been fair.

Well...at first, I was mad that Jason just had two solo songs on XXX.
But then, I reaized he has a strong participation on the songwriting, and he sings background vocals and lines on Robert and Bill's songs.
Bill has like three songs that you can say are his...and so has Robert.
But Love Will Come Back...there's a new version of that song that doesn't has Rascal Flatts. So, that's another Jason Scheff song with Bill singing some lines.
And there's an alternate version of Why Can We in which Jason sings the first verse, instead of Bill.
It would have been good if Jason had sung another song...maybe an uptempo song, like "Fade To Black" or even "Mah johng"...It wouldn't have hurt me...but I love XXX and the songs it has!

Wow Vero that's something I did not know. That's cool there are other versions of these songs with Jason in them. I am interested in getting those songs too. I look at the album the way you do about Jason's work in the album true he has done a lot but it just feels like the album mostly all about Bill. No problem with it now. I am used to it tho still .. Take care!

Yes Daly, there are many Bill's vocals on the album!! And that's interesting, having in mind that he apparently was not so interested in recording a new album with Chicago, and in change, he is very excited about making new music and touring with Songs of Champlin!
But finally, Bill ended having a very strong presence on XXX, and Bill is in very good disposition when he is needed. When it comes about working in projects and new music with Chicago, they can count with him.
Robert had said that XXX would be a Bill/Jason project, and he didn't lied. Curious, is Robert was a driving force, along with Jason, in the making of the new album, why Robert has just tree songs sung by him and a little vocal on "Caroline"? Interesting!! Robert too seems more interested in doing his solo albums, like Subtlety and Passion and "Too Many Voices".
But, I'm glad that there are many Jason's vocals and songwriting credits in the album!!I cannot help it!! And i like very much at least two of the Bill sung songs.
But, I really don't feel XXX as an album all about Bill...I think that Bill and Jason are equally strong. Even though Jason only has two solo songs, his voice is strongly present in many of the songs.

Hey Vero,
I agree with you about the album when it comes to Jason having strong vocal presence in songs because that is all true. He does more than just back up which is cool. What I meant about the album being all about Bill in the sence that he sang more than Jason did. I don't have a problem with it now and don't care because it's a great album regardless.
Btw when did you get to listen to the album?

I got to listen to it a few weeks ago. I was very thrilled when I did!!
I really feel that Jason sang very much on the album. Bill sang very much, it's true, but he didn't overshadowed Jason. Ot at least, it seems to me so. If he had done it, I would have been very disapointed with the album, having in mind that the driving forces of the making of the new album were Jason and Robert. It would have been very ironic that Bill wasn't that much interested in recording a new album, and then, he is the one who sings the most!! Ain't it funny?
Okay, Bill had three solo songs and Jason just two. I am not really too happy about it, but now Rhino has released a version of "Love Will Come Back" with Jason singing the Gary Le Vox parts. And there's an alternate version of "Why Can't We" with Jason singing the first verse instead of Bill, and some persons say it's better that way and why Chicago didn't release this version of the song. I love this version with Jason singing the Bill lines.
On "Caroline", Jason just sing the chorus and during the bridge, where he improvises. So, Jason just sang the choruses but he sings over the end of the song, he exclaims "You're mine you're mine Caroline" and he goes crazy and he sings all over the end of the song until it fades. "Ooh Caroline, .....let it shine, ooh Caroline"Wow, Jason really went crazy!! What happened to him???
So, Jason is very strong on "Caroline". I like to think of that song as a Jason song, even though Bill and Robert sing on it too. On "Where were you?" Jason sings the choruses with a big energy, and sings background vocals too. But that song could seem a Bill Champlin song. I like to think it's a duet between Bill and Jason.
And, Jason has a great appreciation on Bill...Maybe he didn't have any problem on Bill singing that much. Jay DeMarcus, the producer of the album, didn't seem to have any problem either. I would have liked Jason to sing another song by just himself, or at least, to sing Caroline or Love Will Come Back all by himself. But I do like the songs Bill sang lead on, even though I am not so fond into "Better".
