Have someone of you seen the movie "How I got into college", or at lest remember it? Well, so one of the songs included in the sound track was the song "Young" , performed and cowritten by Jason Scheff. This song, besides of being very apropiate for the topic of the movie, its a happy, very refreshing song, whose lyrics reflected the emotions and dreams of the young boys and girls , in a very important period of their lives. I'm happy that the producers of the movie counted on this song, to give music to a youthful story. Jason's voice sounds very soft, tender, full of youth and positive energy. To me, he has very much credibility at the time of deliver his uplifting message. his voice on here has a rawness , a sweetness and a power that really makes this song very enjoyable. I particularly love the tenderness of the verses and the soaring tenor of the chorus. Another curious point on here is that this song could sound very alike to Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now", yet from another movie, "Mannequin". Both songs have alike musical arrangements. I don't think this is particularly bad. It's just a nice detail.

No, I sure haven't seen the movie 'How I Got Into College' so didn't know Jason's song "Young" was in it's soundtrack Oh, I just love this song too, it's so pretty!!
I also like Jefferson Starship's song "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" and saw the movie Mannequin too but don't remember it being in it though for saw it long ago Yes, that's neat the 2 songs have similar musical arrangements in them.

Well, i have to confess that I remember seeing the title of the movie, maybe in the Cable TV giudes. And it's possible that i have seen it on tv...but I don't remember the movie!!But Jason's song sounds perfect for tis movie. "Young" it's a movie song, definitely!!
And yes, "Nothing's gonna stop us now" belongs to the movie Mannequin, woth Kim Catrall from "Sex and the city" as the protagonist. I really wasn't a fan of this song, but it's good now hearing it from time to time. I recently sqw the video of "NGSUN" at a video programm, on a local tv channel.

Yes Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now and Yes sort of have the sam arrangement to them. I also believe it sounds a little like John Wait's Missing You for some reason. This song is one of my favorite Jason songs from his solo because it's one I put on repeat along with Yah, Yah, Yah.
And I saw The Manniquin when I was young back then in the 80's... Kim Catrell I liked her look as a manniquin. She was pretty when she was young.

Yes, "Young" sounds very alike to "Missing you"...maybe in the rythm. It's an upflifting song, and very upbeat. "Missing You" has an arrangement that is very alike to "Young". both songs have a very cool "Eighties" sound. It's so sweet that you like "Young" so much, Daly! Maybe, "Young" is one of the most overlooked Jason solo songs...Maybe because it wasn't part of a big Hollywood movie. I think "How I got into College" was more of a TV, youthful educational movie.I think this song was not a hit for Jason, but just was placed at the end of the movie, during credits. It's so good you gave "repeat" to this song. :)It's a simple, lovely refreshing song about a young boy/girl feelings and their dreams in such a special, critic period in their lives. I always envision Jason, with a black jacket, bluejeans, long curly hair, delicate face and full of illusion, walking by the halls of a high school or college center, maybe with a book in his hands, while singing this song..or sit down at the seats, of the yards...Jason sings , looking at the camera, or at the air, while the characters of the movie are talking, sharing their dreams with friends. It's a nice image I have in my mind whenever I hear this song. Jason looking at himself through every student...Jason at the library...this could have been a very great video for Jason!!! Yes, Kim Catral was very pretty when young. Many years ago, when I watched the movie, on HBO I think, I didn't know who was her. But, after watching "Sex and the city", I finally could make the reference. Now she loks good, very mature, no doubt, but very sophisticated, elegant, cynical, and sultry!!

Kim Catrell as Samantha on Sex in the City rules... OMG she get's herself in situations, and says the most craziest things....lady...I knew her name was Kim Catrell back then, then after seeing her on Sex in The City you know I was like is that her because she looks soo diffrent.
I think anything Jason has done period whether with Chicago or solo is underrated. The only thing that people notice is Jason being Cetera role. That's all I have to say. People don't give him credit and that bother's me. He placed his contributions with that band so he played his part.
Young maybe underrated when talking about Jason's solo works but it is one great song. I loove this 80's feel to it.
I imagine just young Jason singing to this and it makes since why he did. What a perfect person. I like your vision of Jason tho. It seems too true.

Yes, it's true, "Samantha" is maybe the most liberal of the four ladies;she's crazy, very sensual and cool. She's funny, I laugh with her many times. You're absolutely right; she looks very different now, with some more years, her eyebrows thinner, his hair blonde-dyed. It took me some time too to realize she was the girl of "Mannequin".
You're very right about Jason; his work, solo or with Chicago, is very underrated most of the times. There could be some persons that respect some of Jason music with Chicago, but don't really feel a big love, or appreciation for Jason himself, or his beautiful musical work, out of one or two songs, or his "musicianship" with the band. I know of some people that are like those.
Yes...sadly, many persons only notice Jason as the person who took the Cetera role and that's it. That's very lamentable, but it's understandable too. It's a lot of work to get over an artist one has gotten so used to. Peter was great, and many people loved him, but he left, and now this young, sweet, different boy takes Peter's role. It's a weird, different, shocking scenario. I put myself in their feet, sometimes, and I think I can understand their feelings.
No doubt, the stigma of "the substitute" has been a big part of Jason's life. It's amazing to me how well Jason has dealed with it. He has proven to be so strong and mature with all this situation, because I imagine he has his feelings about it.
As you say, Jason has placed his contributions. It's a matter of people to learn to appreciate Jason's music and personality much better, so they could give him the credit he deserves.
"Young" is not such a popular song that everybody's talking about. But it's a great song that maybe could have been a minor hit. This song has some good lyrics, and a good thinking. It's very positive and reflexive. And, for those that love the eiighties sound, it's great, as you Daly has said.

I was going to mention on how it was funny that a 23 yr old male could replace a 41 yr old male. Weird? But it's cool tho Chicago got a younger, and fresh sound in their music.
Jason's music eventhough might be underrated then it's people's loss if they don't get to know it. He has really great songs, and he has great work too. Jason is also a good bassist. He has gotten far as far as the band goes and continues to do well...
As for Young I listened to it today during my walk. It's one song I enjoy from Jason's solo's. I only think this song could have been noticed but it's a great tune. Very young Jason singing Young..
Kim Catrell from Sex in the City was very liberal alright of the rest of the group, and very daring too. OMG!!! que atrevida... She is the only character that has the most experiences out of the other 3

Yes, YCTMS, it was a sweet story...I don't remember it very much now, i have to watch the movie again!! and i liked very much Mannequin @: On the move, with Kristy Swanson on it.
Daly, you are right!! A 23 year old boy replacing a mature, experienced 41 year old man!! bizarre things that happens in life, specially at Showbusiness!!
I hope that Jason Scheff gets more fans everyday, because his talent is too big. As you say, Daly, he continues to do well. Too bad if somepersons don't appreciate Jason's work, because they're missing some awesome, unique material. But i think tlife is like that. Not everybody appreciates one talented man!!!
And yes..."Samantha" is very daring, and maybe the most experienced of the four. In love, you learn so many things and have so many different experiences...I think that the other characters too lived so many sort of experiences there!!
