Ok this was said in other forums so let me repeat it. This album was the best of Chicago post Cetera. Also it's one of my favorite favorites.
This album totally belongs to Jason. 1. He matured vocally 2. The ballads and the rock songs were awesome. 3. This is the album that showed his younger, soft side, and edgier style he had. Just to say Jason has a style totally completely diffrent than Peter's. He's his own artist.
Ok this album may not have done well in the charts. Though we got to here Jason just sing in a different range.

I have to recognize that reading your words were sweet honey to me, Daly!! I agree with everything you said. Chicago 21 is the best album post Cetera, it's really really well done. Well, in my humble opinion, of course, but that's the way I feel about it. It's Jason's album. I like 19 very much, as well as 18, those were very enjoyable, excellent works for Jason. But, with 21, Jason got to the top of his best!! He gave a strong, definitive step, and left the world knowing who was him. I LOOOVe the ballads, specially "Man to woman", "Expplain it to my heart", "What can I say", "Holding On". "You come to my senses" was the first sweet song, the first door to a pandora box of awesome surprises. Chicago 21 is so special. It was the real world of Jason's great talent. His edgier side, like in "What does it tak" and "If it were you", brings out his wonderful energy, his attitude of a real old man that was starting to living. Both songs show his anger towards cruel things of life. the ballads also do as well in showing Jason's strong emotions. "Explain it to my heart" show the real power in Jason's soaring voice. It's really the emotional, strong scream of his young heart. It's Jason's cry of sorrow. On the other hand, we have "Man to woman", that shows his much more romantic, passionate side. MTW establish the loving sentiment in Jason's beautiful voice. this song has so many great moments, but , for some reason, the last prase, "I want the world to see/Baby what you mean to me" reflects the most tender , mellow moment of the song.Other memorable prases are "Man to woman, man to woman", and ""Can't you see that I'm just waiting for your liiiiiiiiight".It really showcases the passion on Jason's voice. This is one of the most precious moments of the melody, and represents the desperate need for the beloved woman. "You Come to My Senses" simply represents marvelous moment in Jason's vocal delivery that would never repeat in his lifetime. It's simply a song full of emotion, softness, sensuality, and really doesn't deserve the bad rain of rejection it has received. Why a wonderful album like Chicago 21 wasn't a sucessful release will always remain a bittered, cruel question. But what really matters is what this album brought to our lives. It only brought beauty and delightful moments, as well as a great smile on my face.
